To release
Pull the lever 2 upwards slightly, press the button 1 and lower the lever to the floor.
The warning light
disappears from the instrument panel.
The red warning light will appear on the instrument panel accompanied by a beep if you are driving with an incorrectly released parking brake (at a speed over 6 mph (10 km/h)).

In the event of an impact to the subframe of the vehicle (e.g. contact with a post, a raised kerb or any other street furniture) the vehicle may be damaged (e.g. distortion of an axle, etc.)
To avoid any risk of accident, have your vehicle checked by an approved Dealer.
To apply
Pull the lever 2 upwards and make sure the vehicle is properly immobilised.
The
warning light will appear on the instrument panel.

Make sure that the parking brake is properly loosened when driving (red warning light off): risk of overheating or even damage.

When stationary and depending on the slope and/or vehicle load, it may be necessary to pull up the handbrake at least two extra notches and engage a gear (1st or reverse gear) for vehicles with a manual gearbox or position P for vehicles with an automatic gearbox.
