Ignition-starter switch on a vehicle with key
Stop and steering lock position St
To lock : remove the key and turn the steering wheel until the steering column locks.
To unlock : turn the key and the steering wheel slightly.
Accessories position A
When the ignition is switched off, any accessories (radio, etc.) will continue to function.
Ignition ON position M
The ignition is switched on :
- the engine may be started.
Ignition ON position D
Turn the key to position D and then release it.
warning
Never switch off the ignition before the vehicle has come to a complete stop. Switching off the engine disables the assistance equipment : brakes, power-assisted steering, etc., and the passive safety devices such as airbags and pretensioners.
Stopping the engine
With the engine running, turn the key back to the « Stop » position St. The engine gets switched off.
tip
Before starting the vehicle, perform the below steps.
- Drive mode in N condition ;
- Press brake pedal
; - Turn the key to position D and release it;
- warning indicator « READY » will appear in the cluster.
Special note
Depending on the vehicle, accessories (e.g. radio) stop working either when the engine is switched off or when the doors are locked.
Starting problems
To avoid damage , do not keep trying to start the engine (by pushing or towing the vehicle) without having identified and corrected the cause of the fault.
If the fault cannot be identified, do not continue to try and start the engine, but contact an approved dealer.

The vehicle can only be started if the charging cord is unplugged from the vehicle.

Driver’s responsibility when parking or stopping the vehicle
Never leave an animal, child or adult who is not self-sufficient alone in your vehicle, even for a short time.
They may pose a risk to themselves or to others by starting the engine, activating equipment such as the electric windows or locking the doors, for example.
Also, in hot and/or sunny weather, please remember that the temperature inside the passenger compartment increases very quickly.

Engine immobiliser
Engine Immobiliser prevents the vehicle being driven by anyone not in possession of the vehicle’s coded ignition key.
Operating principle
The vehicle is automatically protected a few seconds after the ignition is switched off.
If the vehicle does not recognise the coded ignition key or wrong key is used, the engine cannot be started.
System operation
When the ignition is switched on, the vehicle has recognised the code. You can then start the engine.
Vehicle protection
The vehicle will only be protected after the ignition has been switched off.
Operating faults
If there is any fault observed in the function which is accompanied by warning lights
and
, it is
essential to contact an approved dealer as only they are qualified to repair the
engine immobiliser.
If the coded ignition key is faulty, use the spare key (supplied with the vehicle).

Warning light
requires you to stop immediately, for your own
safety, as soon as traffic conditions allow. Switch off the engine and do not
restart it. Contact an approved Dealer.

Any unauthorised work carried out on the engine immobiliser (computers, wiring, etc.) could be dangerous. Work must be carried out by qualified personnel.
